MEGA – Make Europe Great Again – began as a tongue-in-cheek response to the growing conversation about Europe’s global competitiveness. First coined last year, the phrase returned with force this spring as European markets surged and investors started seeing the continent not as a slow mover, but as a comeback story.

The c55 MEGA Cap plays off the MAGA trope but flips the script. It’s not about longing for a mythic past—it’s about reminding the world that Europe’s greatness was never lost. Crafted in Millionaire Script (mega means a million), a typeface rooted in 18th-century European engraving traditions, the cap signals elegance, irony, and intent. Old-world flourish meets present-day momentum.

This is not just a fashion item. It’s a statement of capital, culture, and confidence. It’s for those who know Europe has always had the tools—now it’s regaining its drive.

Old Europe. New Energy. MEGA = Great (in Greek).

Millionaire Script

Millionaire is a high-contrast script typeface designed by Raphaël Verona and released by Swiss foundry Altiplano in 2019. It draws direct inspiration from the English Round Hand tradition and the ornamental penmanship of George Bickham the Elder—a renowned 18th-century engraver and writing master.

While Bickham’s engraved manuals once standardised imperial bureaucracy, Millionaire brings that flourished legacy into the digital space. Every curve is meticulously refined, balancing historical elegance with vector precision.

The typeface is available in three styles—Roman, Italic, and Script—and is optimised for display settings where character and ornament are key. Designed using Bézier curves and OpenType features, it’s ideal for settings that call for dramatic typographic voice: politics, luxury goods, or cultural commentary with a wink.

Millionaire is where empire-era handwriting meets contemporary digital craft—part script, part spectacle.

Designer & Foundry

Raphaël Verona is a French-born designer based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Initially trained in graphic design at ECAL (BA, 2009), his search for the perfect voice and tone in editorial and poster work naturally led him into the world of type design. “It was a way to shape meaning from the ground up,” he says. In 2019, he launched Altiplano, a Swiss type foundry built around this principle.

Altiplano is not just a type catalogue—it’s a studio for typographic research, expressive form, and cultural resonance. From elegant display scripts to variable sans serifs, Altiplano’s fonts are shaped by deep historical inquiry and a drive to reflect a world in flux.

With roots in both Swiss modernism and Andean pluralism—Raphaël has lived in La Paz, Bolivia, and plans to return frequently—Altiplano blends precision with play, and rigour with warmth. The foundry’s typefaces are designed for today’s full spectrum of media: print, digital, and motion.
